Stephen's 21st

Britain's longest indoor kart racing circuit was today's destination. It sits alongside the A13 in Barking, on the London-Essex border. We were there with our Le Mans chums, on a top secret mission:: to celebrate the 21st birthday of Stephen. He is a young man we first met in his mid-teens, and have seen flourish from car-mad schoolboy to motor racing reporter on the cusp of a very promising career.

The celebration had been weeks in the planning, and everyone at the party knew all about it except the birthday boy himself, to whom it was a big surprise when he arrived with his parents to a room full of friends and an afternoon of karting.
