The Shepherds Inn

At Melmerby. Fairly recently this pub was taken over by established businessmen from Penrith. It has only just re opened this season. My verdict is excellent. It has plenty of room and feels like you are in a fine country home, pleasant, peaceful and relaxing (it is open all day and we did go at about 4pm.} Mark recommends the beer - cruzchov or something. This means that we can occasionally go in this pub and have an evening out as it all depends on the beer. Superb setting around the village green with the occasional traditional painted Romany caravan encamped there it all conspires towards a memorable event.
