Castle Coch
I needed to go to Lidl shopping to get fresh fruit and veg, etc., as we've been away. I thought Castle Coch, Tongwynlais, nr Cardiff would make a nice backdrop as it's surrounded by trees, to give an autumnal picture, so headed to do my shopping nearby.
The autumnal look of the british countryside is what struck me as we travelled home, yesterday. It's my favourite time of the year. I lovely the colours.
The blip photo is taken about a mile away from the garden centre in Morganstown, near Radyr, Cardiff. The castle isn't as old as it looks, being built about 1879 on the site of the medieval castle of about 1267 although there was a castle there even earlier around 1081.
The views from the castle are quite stunning - looking down the river Taff towards Cardiff with views of The Bristol Channel. It's known as the fairytale castle, for obvious reasons.
It's a favourite place of mine, as I played there as a very young child in the 1960's and got married there!
