Mono Monday : : Web

This spider web at Spring Lake is a stretch for the Mono Monday challenge, 'travel', but sometimes I DO feel like I'm traveling in circles, just as the spider must have when she made this web. It was so perfect and so perfectly lit that I had to use it today. I've been trying to get a picture of a naturally lighted spider web since I started blipping. And it does look best in black and white….

I think that one of the unique and special things about photography is that it makes ephemeral things permanent…a moment in time, a face, a shaft of light, a spider web. It is  easy to take just any old photo…we  have all seen the selfie sticks, or have shoeboxes full of old fading snapshots of things and places we don't recognize anymore. It's easy to take just any old picture. but there is something special about including a photo as part of a journal, and having to choose just one picture to represent each day, that encourages not only excellent photos, but photos that preserve the ephemeral. Even if it is but a fleeting moment in time it becomes a powerful memory.

I am so impressed with my new doctor. She has called me three times, taken me off all but one of the medications I hated taking, and discovered that my potassium levels are too low. I will be going back to see her in two weeks after I take seven horse pill size tablets of potassium, and I will be pleased to tell her that I'm feeling well. I have commented that i had the feeling feeling that our move was some sort of line of demarcation between feeling young and feeling old. Now I realize it has had a lot to do with taking several new medications, summarily prescribed and that I didn't need.

I hope the crabby ladies in the front office don't drive her away….
