Elation!

I think this lacewing is in high spirits too :)

Sat outside playing with libbie when i noticed a few of these feasting (they are mostly nocternal so was great to see them! and to get this picture... how chuffed am i? :D

They are very welcome in most gardens as they eat the aphids. the larvae suck the aphids' juices and may even use the drained bodies to hide under.

Female lacewings lay each egg on a thread of mucus that hardens in the air, leaving the egg on a slender stalk. Generally some adults hibernate, although many perish.

You can actually order the larvae as a form of biological pest control.

Shall spend the day smiling now :) hope you like it as much as i do.
