Forward Planning

We are now looking ahead to 2016 and our holiday - France.

My Mother had an uncle, George Richard Roberts, her mothers brother, whom she never knew. One of her greatest ambitions was to visit his grave.

Sadly George does not have a grave, he is one of the tens of thousands who have no known grave, he is however recalled on one of the panels at the Dud Corner Cemetery, part of the Loos Memorial.

George Richard Roberts, aged 22, of the 7th Battalion The East Surrey Regiment was killed in action on March 31 1916.

So 2016 is the centenary of his death and I shall fulfill my Mums wish by visiting the place where George died and remember him on behalf of the family he never knew.
