London - but where have all the papers gone?
"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
— Samuel Johnson
I love this city. Today walked from Jode and Aafke's flat in Wapping to Marylebone Station - 5 miles, probably nearer 6 when you include a couple of wrong turnings. It was a glorious day, the Thames sparkled, people were friendly - and I had hot chocolate, shopping and lunch breaks. This photo is taken in Fleet Street, where Jody works, and Scots will recognise some well known titles. Now the papers have all moved away and been replaced by law offices.
Am now in Oxfordshire for a couple of days and Catherine and Izzy have introduced me to their new kittens - Cederic and Monty - both grey, bouncy and full of mischief.
