Village school Albanian style
Walked a steep track - 'slowly, slowly' as Ed would say. The heat made walking more tiring than it normally would be. Eventually reached this small village where people were delighted to greet visitors from England. The schoolroom is very basic and the teacher follows an individual syllabus for each of his approx. 8 pupils varying in age from new starters to teenagers. If anyone is thinking of going to an area like this there is a great shortage of maths equipment, (rulers, protractors, compasses etc.) it would have been so easy to take some but I didn't know. Instead I have scattered a number of teddy bears liberally around Albania. We visited the house of one family in the village and the daughter was close to giving birth to what she knew to be a girl. Thankfully I had a pink teddy in my rucksack and both of us were delighted to give and to receive it!
