Noctilucient Cloud over Edinburgh
Noctilucient Cloud (NLC) are the highest clouds in the Earth's atmosphere, located in the mesosphere at approx 50 miles above the Earth's surface. They can only been seen in summer at latitudes of between 50-70 deg when sunlight, from below the horizon, illuminates them.
Last night, around midnight, there was a beautiful display over Edinburgh. So since NLC's aren't seen that often, and I just love the night sky...they are my blip for today.
