Resilience of the human spirit

I often look at C and marvel at her resilience and determination.  It's hard to be a teenager, but to also have to deal with a cancer diagnosis and a joint replacement is tough.  Last night C received her full colours for service.  That feels way more important to me than her academic achievements, as it shows that she has not closed her heart to the world.  
This morning I was up early and tried to sew the colours onto C's blazer before she got up, so she could wear them to school.  It took about 30 minutes just to thread the needle and in the end I had to wait for her to do it for me.   *big sigh
