Little African Boy

This is Jenny - the maid.

She kind of rules the roost here, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but having worked for the family for 10 years, she kind of knows how things work.  She also knows exactly what she can get away with not doing - I have a theory that she only does 'vanity cleaning' - so long as carpets are hoovered and mirrors cleaned, the place looks clean......  The things my mother could teach her.

Anyway, Jenny has a very lovely smile, her whole face lights up and she is very good with animals - and babies.  She should be, she's had 9.  I'm frequently told that the 'mother of 9 say's .....' - usually that my baby isn't wrapped up in enough blankets.

Today, I was battling with technology on many levels - which was made all the harder with someone who just doesn't think they should be asleep and demanding attention.  So Jenny very kindly did the honourable African thing and strapped him to her back and got on with the ironing.  Here, she is supervising dog feeding time, we have a slightly poorly dog - which the parents in law can never know about as he's been banned from going for walks, where, he invariably digs for England, swallows all kinds of disgusting things and spends days coughing half the farm up.  We're onto day 4 of him padding around feeling sorry for himself and letting out the odd, rather pathetic cough.  Jenny and I were rather pleased that he did actually eat some dinner today, even if he had to be coaxed into it.
