Nikko

Travelled a long way roday via two Shinkansen high-speed trains and one local JR service to reach the mountain resort of Nikko where we shall stay for six nights.
We are at ( in total contrast to last night) Nikko Park Lodge Mountainside, a bit of a mouthful that for a tiny, cosy, chalet-style hotel, in a small town known for its many shrines and temples, volcanic springs and wildlife. When we approached the hotel two small deer were running along the roadside in front of the car in which a generous hotelier (quite unconnected) had given us a free lift.
We walked into town and back before darkness fell and as the rain started. Looking forward to chilling out.
This is a little food shop in town where we sat on a bench outside and tucked into a couple of their fruit-filled deep-fried dumplings. Delicious!
