Cell Block Eight

Visited the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly. Built on a hub and spoke plan, where a guard can stand in the middle and see down all the cell block hallways. Their initial belief was lengthy solitary confinement would bring a man back to a godly sentiment and true penitance...

Didn't work so well.

Amazing place for photos....this one of a two-tiered cell block was a very close second.

Here is also my entire set of photos from there, including the Medieval castle-like exterior, various watchtowers, cell blocks, cells, ruins, and Al Capone's posh cell setup.
