Disgusting mess and lucky escape!!

This disgusting looking pot of burned inedible mess was originally a pot of leek and potato soup with lentils. I had to take mum for a drs appointment and FORGOT to turn off the gas. Eoghan arrived home to find the bottom of the house filled with black smoke and a very frantic Dileas behind the door desperate to get out. No real damage was done except a ruined pot but it just shows how easy it would be to go from normality to disaster!! The house smells awful - even with all the windows open. I think mum is secretly quite pleased - she's not the only one doing daft things!!
