View from Le Derochoir

Well not quite as its a giant crumbling cliff - but a view from its lower slopes. Despite the temperature being 2°C when we got up, by the time we were leaving the car at Plan Jeux it was t-shirt weather - and even up high we only needed thin jackets & sunscreen. Over a cheese based picnic we even needed sun hats - but that was largely to help us take in the view. We got a big clue that its not going to last though -
on the way across the rochers we met the ski patrol candidates out being put through their paces.
The view is of course Mont Blanc - and over on these lower slopes of the Rochers des Fiz is one of the very best points from which to admire the range - far enough to see the whole scale & majesty - close enough to be able to take in the details - both Gouter Refuges, the Tete Rousse, Grand Couloir - all clearly visible;

I very very nearly blipped the drive up through the trees - the ancient woodland looks amazingly colourful at the moment - but in the same way that you can't help stopping and turning around every few paces it was impossible not to choose a shot of this view;
The extra is a lovely fly agaric we passed in the woods on the way back down - rather at the other end of the scale - but with a beauty all of its own.
