Cranberry Glass

This Cranberry glass dish is a wedding present to my wife's grandmother on her marriage in 1912. The glass, sometimes known as Ruby Gold is, because of its very nature made in small batches due to the high cost of the gold content in it. The glass is made by adding gold chloride which is made from solid gold and has been dissolved in a solution of Nitric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid. This type of glass is generally hand blown or hand moulded.
