Friday notes
Taken during a walk around the neighborhood. The tree looks slightly past peak, but still so brilliant.
Newby is away for the weekend. He is one of the volunteers working at our alma mater's homecoming weekend. He's always happy when he's on campus...he has lots of friends there that he enjoys being with. I'm relieved about that.
You see, he's been having the worst luck lately. He lost his key set. Unfortunately it contained everything under the sun: both cars, front door, garage, backyard gate, mailboxes both at home and at the post office, office. A trip back to the car dealership, to the post office as well as a visit from a locksmith were necessary to keep ourselves safe. I've been too afraid to ask how much the loss is costing us...
Then he lost his new iPhone. Unfortunately, he had forgotten to include it in the "find my phone" app upon purchasing it. So he was forced to call Verizon and put in a request to turn his iPhone into a brick. He has lost quite a few cellphones in his life and he's just fed up with being aggravated after every loss. So he's done with cellphones for good, will not be buying a new one again. He still has his iPad, which he says is more than sufficient for his needs anyway.
Now done with "Downton Abbey"...the final season is supposed to be shown on PBS on January 3rd. So while we wait for January 3rd, we're watching "Home Fires" and "Indian Summers", both British TV shows. On my own, I'm watching "Breaking Bad" about a chemistry teacher with lung cancer. I'm not sure where it's going as far as the plot, but at least it has all my attention, just like "Gran Hotel", "Velvet" and "Downton Abbey".
