Hodge Close quarry
Large on black is the only way!
A drive to the south lakes today to spend the day at Hodge Close slate quarry, a wonderful disused quarry full of silver birch trees. The colours of the leaves were just about perfect, and the sun kept popping out to backlight them spectacularly.
A couple of grads were needed to control the bright sky in this picture, and great care to shield the front of the lens from direct sunlight, and prevent flair.
Never seen Hodge close so busy - a few photo workshops were there, and I bumped into a very dear friend of mine - Will Cheung (Advanced Photography / Photography News) who as usual, had a bagful of interesting Nikon lenses, including the new 300 f4, - so incredibly compact, and I couldn't make it flare however hard I tried!
