Under siege

It feels as if our wonderful cathedral is under siege at the moment - partially encased in scaffolding and today surrounded by temporary buildings and the sheds that will make up the Christmas market, with loudly swearing workmen trying to fit the liner for the ice rink. It doesn't feel like my city when it's like this and I'm looking forward to it all being back to normal in February.
