Sionnach!

This handsome and very large chap followed me for a few hundred metres on the other side of the canal. I walked 20K along (well, 10K out and 10K back) the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath, through some beautiful fall foliage.

The fox wasn't alone on the banks of the Potomac--some fine fat geese (one less than before, if the fox had his way), a great blue heron, a pileated woodpecker, two stunning peregrine falcons, a (dead) snake, a deer with very fine antlers. The extra photo shows two beautiful mules...and a barge full of people that they were towing.

In all, a lovely and tiring walk. I felt like joep, walking for hours and hours on my own. I felt even more like him at the end--'Oh, me hips!'
