let's go....

...fly a kite and so it was today at the annual Zig Zag festival.
A treat to watch Michael tie a tiny loop in the strong flying black string and attach another koinobori to the long tail of a dragonfly kite.

Michael explained the meaning of the carp...multitasking at its best while wrestling the wind, carp and talking!!.
Flown as windsocks, banners and streamers during Children's Day (originally the Boys' Festival) in May, in Japanese culture the carp symbolizes strength and courage and the Boys' Festival an event expressing the hope boys will grow strong and healthy as wild carp.

Lots of children's activities today at the Festival with youth bands, rope bridges for traversing, flower garlands to be plaited and offcuts of wood to be recycled into...a birdhouse and a plane.
And very special to look up and see Michael and his koinobori weaving their magic above.
