Pleiades Open Star Cluster

The Pleiades is an open star cluster in the constellation of Taurus. It's the fuzzy patch that you can see best when looking off to the side of it rather than directly.
About 440 light years away, it consists of around 1000 young stars. Many are brown dwarfs, but the brightest are the hot blue class B stars of which there are 14. I think I can see about 10 of them in this shot. 
The cluster is estimated to be about 115 million years old, and in another 250 million years will have dispersed due to tidal effects of gravity in our galaxy.
It dwarfs our fleeting mayfly lifetimes, even the lifetime of the human species, but it is nice to look up now and again at the wonder of it all.
