Fish for Lunch

I finally managed a nice walk round a nature reserve in the sunshine and so pleased that my back let me get all the way round. We stopped off in one of the hides for a sit down and as we walked in the only person in there was a photographer with a lens nearly as big as himself.........normally I would make an embarrassed and hasty exit feeling quite insignificant sporting a 300mm lens next to a monster like that but today I decided to be brave. I said hello to him, sat myself down a few feet away and started snapping.......and I'm so pleased I did because shortly afterwards this little beauty appeared and started fishing right in my line of sight (poor Mr Hugeappendage had reeds blocking his view........is it very bad of me to feel so smug?......don't answer that). Anyway, it made my day and the lens envy vanished into thin air ;-)))
I wasn't sure what bird this was.....I think it could be a young grebe, can anybody set me straight?  ;-))

I've managed to get a bit behind again as usual and I have to start cooking now, so will try to catch up tomorrow  :-)
