The Savoy
Fortunately I managed to get a room at the Dorchester.
Visited my old old home town. We used to visit my Grandparents regularly, they owned a shop opposite this establishment. We oft got a chippy tea from here. One door led to a chip shop, the other to a café. My favourite was a red pudding supper. Red Pudding you ask? I have no idea, although some circles mention polony. Polony I hear you ask? I have no idea. I did google it but what it should have been bore no resemblance to my memories of it.
I have in my hand now the receipt for the purchase of my grandfather's two shops, and six bedroomed house with kitchen, huge bathroom dining room and drawing room and a roof garden! Price in the early 60's? £750!
