Stowe Sunset

The Little Misses were very thoughtful this morning and didn't get up until about 7am.
I was expecting it to be a lot earlier with the clocks going back.
And then they helpfully got their own breakfast, turned on Winx and left us to lie in until about 9am. Lovely children that they are!!
Mr K took them over to the cinema in Bicester. They had looked at the listings and decided on Inside Out again!! Mr K hasn't seen it so was happy to take them.
I decided to go to the gym and do the washing up instead.
And buy fabulous Christmas doormats on Groupon!!!
They came back for lunch and then we headed to Stowe for a walk.
It is looking so beautiful there at the moment - glorious autumn colours, millions of leaves to crunch through and kick and scatter, hills to scoot down like nutters, gorgeous light as the sun went down.
And hot chocolate and cake to warm us up as the temperature plunged once the sun was gone.
The very interesting find of the day was a nuthatch eating grubs at the bottom of a giant tree trunk. We got within inches of it without it flying away which was great - if a little worrying. It was happily scrabbling away and eating so hopefully it was OK. Just a very relaxed bird!
By the time we got back to the cafe it was getting dark and by the time we left it was completely pitch dark.
It was strangely exciting being there in the dark. We discovered that the Little Misses' scooters have flashing lights on the wheels which looked brilliant as we set off to the car park. You could see nothing of them except flashing purple wheels zooming along!

I was torn between two pictures today. The other - which made me think of Swallows and Amazons - is in extras.
