Mono Monday - ORIGINS - MM91
Mono Monday's theme this week is ORIGINS and the tag is mm91.
" The point or place where something begins, arises, or is derived"
Although I've blipped a few chickens in the past I've never really thought about their ORIGINS before.
According to Wikipedia "The earliest known domestication occurred in Northern China 8,000 BCE determined from archaeological chicken bones.[Previously genetic studies have pointed to multiple maternal origins in Southeast, East, and South Asia, but with the clade found in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa originating in the Indian subcontinent. From India, the domesticated chicken was imported to Lydia in western Asia Minor, and to Greece by the fifth century BC. Fowl had been known in Egypt since the mid-15th century BC, with the "bird that gives birth every day" having come to Egypt from the land between Syria and Shinar, Babylonia, according to the annals of Thutmose III."
This beauty was pecking around in a trailer full of horse manure which explains the mucky beak! She was clucking at me continuously as I was probably putting her off. I've very pleased she stayed put and didn't run off with the cockerel and the other hens. More on Flickr if you interested including a laughing horse!
Please do spread the word for this weeks challenge, my last this time round. I'll look forward to looking your ORIGINS shots throughout the day. Thanks :-)
