Choose me!
Not until I loaded this photo of a moving scarlet oak branch did I see this single bright leaf in the center showing off for the camera. Just like my cats, "Choose me for the Blip!!"
The extra photo is the garden entry from the North.
I just discovered a natural path is opening for future development. An unplanned gift. Along the border to the right the beautiful scret oak is becoming glorius. It has doubled in size in the 8 years since I moved here. To the left (not seen) is the bog or wild garden. It is almost always wet. there is only about 4 inches of topsoil under the lawn or grass. Dig in and you strike water. I grow willowd of different types to sop up water.
While working on the willow fedge (hedge+fence woven) right along the street I notice that the end of the fedge willow that refused to be trained or woven with its fellows. Instead the topmost branch is reaching out to a willow across the space where the mower rides through.
So, next spring I shall begin making an Archway over the "path" that invites a view into the garden. this is the view right now.
I do notice the deer have already been coming down from the forest to nibble the tips off some dogwood and willows. (Grrr...)
I do not have a good photo of the fedge right now. It is an adolescent and too awkward to give a decent view. I will try this winter. Or perhaps go stand across the street to see if it looks better.
A very happy autumn here with just freezing temps at night.
