Promise

Saw this dry leaf from a plane tree, shining in the sun this morning.  It was caught up in the bare twigs of another bush.  But look at those twigs - they all have their buds containing embryonic leaves for the spring.  How promising is that?

By lunchtime, when I met a friend in town, the sun had all gone and it was trying to rain.  It had also got rather cold.  Brrr!  Oh well, I don't suppose that will get better for a while..
