Unless there's a prolonged period of mild calm weather in January, the cottage will be 'closed up' for the winter.  Every year we have the debate:  could we ..could we.... live here all year round.  It would necessitate selling up at home, since the cottage isn't suited to year round living for 65+  and that would be an enormous step for people who love Glasgow and have all their family links on the mainland.  On the other hand, to be part of the village and island communities; to feel safe; to have confidence in the provision of care; to be surrounded every day by the beauty of the coast, the mountains, the microclimate with all its quirks and just to see the light on the water   -- so much food for thought!
