The first customer.

After a long installation day on Sunday we were finally ready to serve our first paying customer with the new iPOS for food tills. This marked a historical day for IKEA in the Food department, finally realising the vision of the whole store using the same till system to give the customer a seamless payment experience. Not so exciting for most people, but for me and our little project team it was the start of another two years of hard graft and worldwide travel, installing this system in all of our 30 countries. And the reward for a tough year of development and testing. We are all very proud to say that the first day went far better than expected. Even if it was a 16 hour day! This is the very first receipt for which we received money. It was actually processed by our project manager and paid for by our global IKEA Food operations manager. I am sure it will be framed for posterity!
