Hạ Long Reunion
I met up with the group from the Hạ Long Bay tour. I took two of them for dinner back at my favourite restaurant and then we all went for drinks on Tạ Hiện as none of them had tried Bia Hoi yet. Unfortunately we weren't able to sit at the place we wanted as the owner doesn't like foreigners. There were over 50 people sat at her street bar and not a single foreigner. She couldn't even look at us and rudely dismissed us and kept turning away. It's quite shocking to see such clear discrimination and it put a dampener on the good mood.
Anyway, we got some beers at a different place and soon our group grew even larger. We walked around looking for a late-night bar and saw a bunch of tourists being led down an alley, so we followed them. We joined a lock-in via the back entrance and confused one guy who saw about 20 people come down the stairs in to the small bar; he asked me "where did you all come from?!"
They're a great bunch and it was a really fun night!
