A Tale Of Two Cities
I am increasingly uneasy about “sniped” images of those less fortunate than ourselves (mind, who are we to judge?) in our midst. Purporting to be edgy and “street”; showing how smart-arsed the photographer is. I know, we’ve all done it at some stage...
I was photographing detail on this Boer War memorial near the Minster, rounded the corner and came face to face with a guy in his 60s, shuffling off to stash the cardboard he’d been sleeping on. We chatted and he said he’d become unemployed about eighteen months ago, had health issues, but that “he got by”.
I could show you his portrait, but I won’t.
