Gorgon fence

I saw John for the first time for a few days. In bed, using the 'I'm 94 you know' rouse to delay getting up, if at all, his intention being to stay a-bed the day long through. We chitted and chatted and on the mention of 'old faithful' (me, the retainer) he breaks into faltering song singing 'Old faithful'

Old faithful we rode the range together
Old faithful in every kind of weather
When your roundup days are over
There'll be pastures white with clover
For you old faithful pal of mine

Not a song I was familiar with - the 'horse's prayer' and the club song of Hull FC - of which I played to him the You Tube clip off my phone. You've got to love him.

He sent me away with a request for another big box of chocolates.

I later set some new fence posts and cleared more leaves.  Later still I walked the circuit in a rising breeze and beautiful clear evening light, the last robins singing, the skies empty of swallows, goldfinch and wheatear (although there will be Rock Pippits in the bay the winter through).
