Ao Nang

We watched jungle, villages and mountainous terrain go by as the train approached Surat Thani. Once we arrived we caught a bus and were dropped off at another bus station. After a while a bus to Krabi arrived so we hopped on.

The other passengers had been on the bus for about 14 hours, starting at Bangkok; the same place we had caught our trian the night before. They looked exhausted, I definitely didn't regreat the train option.

After being dropped off at yet another bus station in Krabi, we caught a lift to Ao Nang, the smaller coastal town shown in my photo. It's an ok place, not a lot to do in the town itself, but it has a nice road by the beach with a few shops and tour operators. We stayed at a very cheap hotel on the main road leading away from the coast.
