ABSTRACT THURSDAY AND PINKTOBER 29
It’s amazing what you can do with a ball of pink wool, a pink butterfly, flowers on the front of a Marks & Spencer brochure (I knew that would be useful!) and three pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons. Some may think this is an overload of pink - and you are entitled to your opinion - but we need to get the message out there and it is PINKTOBER after all.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN - check your breasts regularly - the NHS Breast Screening Programme has produced a five-point plan for being breast aware:
1. Know what's normal for you
2. Look at your breasts and feel them
3. Know what changes to look for
4. Make an appointment to see your GP if you notice any changes
5. Attend routine screening if you're 50 or over
Almost every day, many of us will know or hear of someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer or is receiving treatment - so when that letter arrives for you to go and have a mammogram, don’t just throw it in the back of a drawer - make sure you attend. Yes, it’s painful for a minute or two - and no-one is disputing that, but it could save your life!
So again, for all those who are having treatment, I dedicate this blip to YOU - and pray it will be successful.
“Breast cancer
changes you,
and the change
can be
beautiful.”
