Albatross
We're staying at Larnach Castle, New Zealand's only castle - built in the 1870s. It's on the Otago Peninsula just outside Dunedin and has panoramic views over the Dunedin area (including Sawyer's Bay!)
The weather was wet today, with some quite torrential downpours. We spent the morning exploring the castle and grounds. Our room looks out over the view, so we were often content to sit in our room and watch the rain in the stunning view!
After lunch at the castle we drove down the peninsula towards the end, stopping to have tea and look at the view. We arrived at the Royal Albatross Centre at about 4pm, and took their 5pm tour up the hillside. This is the only place in the world that albatross nest on the mainland, and we watched birds on the nest and flying around.
After a lovely dinner in their cafe we took the late tour to watch Little Blue Penguins (aka Fairy Penguins) return from the sea to their burrows.
The main blip is an albatross "sky calling", there are extras of Larnach Castle and the view, and also of some of the many penguins we saw returning to their nest.
