Creepy

I actually don't mind vultures. They are quite social and .unlike crows or geese, they are silent. They are spectacularly ugly and their habit of eating carrion is somewhat unappealing, but they bailed us out by reducing a deer  carcass that was dumped on our property by poachers to a pile of bones.

I love the way they sit atop a fence post or a bare tree and spread their wings in the morning sun. There is often a group of them which reminds me of a group of old Italian men sitting together in the piazza .

But Halloween is almost here and this lone vulture on a dead branch seemed an appropriate reminder.
