The Jewel in the Crown

Despite the dullness and dampness, we decided to go ahead with our Sheffield Parks and Open Spaces bird survey as we hadn't completed one for Autumn, and time is running on. Although the leaves are now falling fast, the birds weren't that easy to see but we got a respectable number, the most interesting being a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a Pheasant and a pair of Bullfinches. We also went to have a little peep at the jewel in the National Trust's South Yorkshire portfolio (in fact the only place to them in South Yorkshire).
