The original Cash

Built in 1946, this was the site of the first factory in Scotland taken on by an American company after the war (NCR), which is why this section has been left standing whilst the rest of the site was cleared years ago and turned into a "leisure park".

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. In my opinion, the developers should have been forced to either use the whole of the old building in its entirety (I liked that building as a kid, living not far away just up Timey brae) or do something as a condition of the planning consent. Because they weren't, and because of the economic slowdown, the housing project planned there is not happening now, so its an embarrassing eyesore.

Why would anyone in their right mind want a house right next to the ice rink, cinema, mcdonalds, kfc, a hotel, ashoka shack?

It was bucketing down again this evening, so quickly decided to take this since its linked to yesterdays blip and because it was on the way to kids swimming club and I only had 5 minutes before pickup time.
