Over the Boatyard Wall
15.6C with rain showers through the morning. Clearing to sunny spells in the afternoon. Moderate breeze.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went through to Arbroath before 9am and had our walk round the harbour. The lock gate to the inner harbour was closed so we could walk round in a loop. When we got to the harbour the rain had gone off so we walked round to the boatyard, where there were several boats on the slipway and more boats in the yard itself. There were a lot of boats in the inner harbour today, with just a few creel boats tied up against the harbour wall in the outer harbour.
When we got to the boatyard I slipped Maeve's lead round the gate to the roadway along the outer harbour wall so I could go up on the harbour wall walkway to get this shot over the boatyard wall. It is a while since I have had an opportunity to get this type of shot The boats on the upper part of the slipway are often obscured by the shed and a stone building and I can't get a good angle.
As we walked back to the car the rain came on, so we hurried along before Maeve got too wet.
Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. We went up to the church, then down the bridle path to the shore road. We came back along the cycle path then carried on round in a loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.
World Cup rugby union final on the telly this afternoon. New Zealand v Australia.
