Silent Lookouts

These are the remains of searchlight and gun emplacements at the entrance to Loch Ewe.
During World War II, the loch became a naval port of significant strategic importance to Britain. It was the assembly point for many of the Atlantic convoys. It was also the entry point for many British submarines making their way into the Atlantic Ocean.
There were numerous installations here and further along the coast which formed the Loch Ewe defences.
Today they stand abandoned and silent.
