Purple Sunbird

You may think I've wrongly named this bird, but this is what a non-breeding male looks like! From January to June he is metallic purple, sutprisingly sadly his mate is a very drab looking bird in comparison and is very pale olive brown with some washed out yellow breast feathers, but they are the nearest thing Oman has to a hummingbird and they feed like a hummingbird. They are an abundant resident but as they are very small and very shy, they are not often seen in detail, this is not the best photograph of one but you can see he's certainly not purple at the moment!
