Return to Tiffany's
Well I certainly bought the right pendant in New York; little over a month since I bought it, I've had to return it!
I noticed last weekend that the silver (on both sides) of the pendant has been scratched, I guessed from the little key swinging across it. As you can imagine, I wasn't happy about it, especially as I've only worn it a handful of times.
If it had been £20 from H. Samuel's I'd still have been miffed but certainly not as much as I was after having spent a ridiculous amount on what is basically a bit of silver.
I contacted customer services (both UK & USA) and they advised me to take it to the nearest store to see if they can polish out the scratches. My concern was that it will just happen again, which they have said (in not so many words) that it will.
I told them I wouldn't have bought it had I known this would happen.
So off to Manchester I went to see what they could do.
The assistant was lovely and said it was the action of metal on metal that had caused the scratches, but she reassured me that a good polish would make it right. She also said due to the mirror like appearance of the pendant, that made the scratch look worse.
5 minutes later, she returned with one very shiny pendant. She said it's basically a bit of tarnish, rather than a permanent scratch, caused by the key being made of a different metal and a decent silver polishing cloth would buff out any future scuffs (she would have given me one but they were out of stock!). She said I could call in anytime and they would polish it for me free of charge, and if over time it scratches more deeply, they can send it away for professional polishing.
I left feeling much happier. So much so, I went for a little spree in Mac!
Yet again, another really helpful assistant who helped me write a wish list for Christmas. I told her I had time to kill, so she happily brought me loads of different products to try and told me to check the website at the end of the week for a special offer on a brush set.
I couldn't leave empty handed, so bought a new red lippie (brave red) and a brow powder.
Glad it all turned out well in the end :-)
