A huge, and growing, sunspot system. Currently over 175,000 km from end to end. The Earth would fit comfortably within the large spot on the right. The system harbours the potential for powerful flares over the next few days, but more pressing is the powerful stream of solar wind that is due to interact with our magnetic field during the 2nd and 3rd of the month. There is a 90% chance of a strong G3 class storm which could mean a good chance of aurora for GB.
