I'd like to say that this filter did it's job in protecting the lens, but that isn't really the case.  

The lenscap is the problem.  It just doesn't fit right, and so it ends up slipping inside the threads of the filter ring.  It's the same if I put it on the front of the lens.  As a result, the slightest knock gets transmitted through the lens cap, instead of being absorbed by it.

I'm pretty hacked off.  The lens is OK luckily (after having broken filter glass forced against it) but no thanks to the manufacturers protective cap.
