Autumn Colours
Fog descended on the South of England this morning covering the treetops with its thick, stubborn cloak. Chaos ensued across transport networks with train delays, flight cancellations and slow motorway traffic.
As I waited on the train platform for the delayed 08:16 service I noticed how quiet and eerie the station seemed. The fog had silenced the birds and there was hardly a breath of wind.
It felt like I was in a version of 28 days later and half expected zombies to jump out! From the train the fields looked spooky and lifeless with not a single cow or sheep to be seen.
By contrast this evening I was welcomed back at my car with a blanket of rusty orange and brown maple size leaves decorating the windscreen and bonnet.
I brought one of the leaves home and paired it up with my cinnamon fragranced candle and mini pumpkin adding a feeling of warmth and colour after the lifeless monotone weather today.
The clocks are already set to winter time but all the while I can see a canopy of burnt oranges, ambers and browns it is still autumn in my book!
