Spared from the Grim Reaper!

Following on from yesterday; this little gem managed to escape the scythe (until it goes to seed). My knowledge of orchids is limited, but I'm fairly certain that it's a Common spotted. As the name suggests, it is one of our more 'abundant' species, but I think it still has the ability to amaze, especially close-up. This particular example has flowered in the garden for the past three years, and is obviously happy with the conditions, but has yet to be joined by others. It was raining this morning when the shot was taken and I had a brolly in one hand and camera in t'other. I had to resort to Program mode on the dial to get a reasonable shutter speed.
