The Norwegian church, Cardiff Bay Barrage.
This delightful little church was built in 1868 on land donated by the then richest man in the world, the Marquis of Bute. It was built specifically as a place of worship for the thousands of Norwegian sailors who used to arrive here in ships carrying pit props for the rapidly expanding Welsh coal mines. At the time of its construction, the church was used by sailors as a reference point because it could be seen from a long way out to sea. Children's author, Roald Dahl who had Norwegian parents was baptised here in 1916. The church has now become an arts centre with a rather good café, and art gallery. There is also a large hall within which is used for exhibitions, concerts and weddings etc.
