Kali
Today, Penny Sarah and I went on the metro - how good is this, so cheap, so clean and running to time - to the Kali Temple. This was an experience as it is one of the few temples that still do goat sacrifices. Not that pleasant to see the carcasses being butchered but we were assured the meat goes to feed hundreds of hungry mouths each day. After our 'tour' we were stung for a lot of rupees to enable rice to be bought to accompany the goat! We saw where the food was cooked daily - huge pots on the 'stoves' - so guess there will be some less hungry folks. After the temple we went to Tagore House. A wonderful old building being maintained and housing lots of things pertaining to Tagore, including many photos of all the various places he visited.
