Summer in November continued
Beautifully, warm, and sunny day.
Extra: The Asian ladybug was first brought to North America by the U.S. government from Japan in 1988 to serve as an aggressive species for insect control.
The orange-and-black beetles live in large swarms and have been known to take nips out of people’s skin. It’s not that they’re out to get humans. Their nervous system tricks them into thinking we might be an aphid or a food substance so they take a little bite.
Since their introduction, however, the not-so-beneficial aspects of this species of ladybug have been realized.
